Toisesta näkökulmasta salaliittoteoriat ammentavat historian paljastamista monenlaisista vehkeilyistä. Moni salaliittoteoria on tunnetusti osoittautunut salaliitoksi. Tästä näkökulmasta salaliittoteorioiden yhtenä roolina on nähty “vallanpitäjien vahtikoirana” toimiminen, jotta “historia ei toistuisi” nykyajassa.
