Militias: Citizen uprising imminent

President Obama came into prominence at a time when the country desperately needed change. His campaign promises created an air of confidence that allowed Americans to breathe a sigh of relief-promising to institute changes at all levels of the government, and to transform it into a vessel of democracy and accountability.

Today we are seeing first hand that it was pure unadulterated rhetoric. His much touted Government Reform resulted in enactment of draconian laws and regulations that further eroded civil rights-giving more power to the greedy corporate entities.

In nearly every state, most major cities, and even in the small agricultural areas, there are home grown militia units starting to rise up vehemently voicing their concerns. Many are actively preparing for a violent confrontation with the government. This fear was tested when the Obama administration allowed the Posse Comitatus Act to be tossed aside, and began utilizing active duty Military troops for civil disturbances, as was the case during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

The police Chief of New Orleans ordered that all private firearms be seized from legal gun owners, and with the help of his police officers, federal contractors and active duty military troops-conducted a military operation against the very citizens these law enforcement services were sworn to protect and serve. A move that was seen as the first shot across the bow, and one that raised the consciousness of every gun owner in the United States. What followed shortly thereafter is a direct result of that unconstitutional action.

Militias: Citizen uprising imminent

The American people experienced eight years of authoritarianism under the tutelage of George W Bush Jr.-a President that was the most hated American on the face of the globe. To many people, President Bush and his administration symbolized everything that was wrong with America. He was called a despot, a colonialist, a tyrant, a hedge monger , and an iniquity of the Presidential office. But, no matter what history will write about George W. Bush Jr.-it will say that he carried out the wishes of Americans on September 11th 2001. A time when most Americans were screaming for revenge against terrorists and their supporting nations. A time when the American collective consciousness banded together under a single unification of thought-Revenge!

Barack Hussein Obama; a President that will go down in history as having caused the most widespread segregationist movement to ever hit the shores of America. No President, ever, in the history of the United States has created such an immense outpouring of hatred, and worship at the same time.

His supporters are quick to point out their god-like worship of him, and his critics are just as quick in pointing out their utter revulsion of him. But no one can argue the fact the he was voted into office in a landslide election. An election that saw a historical number of people voting for the first time in their lives. But perhaps, in the final analysis history will once again show that Barack Hussein Obama , like other unpopular Presidents, wasn’t such a good choice after all.

Within months of his election the nation went into a panic mode-especially gun owners, civil rights advocates, as well as organized pro-constitutional groups. America experienced a mammoth resurgence of a militia, survivalist, and civil rights groups. Some of the groups claiming to have attracted and recruited well over a million people since Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Groups that soon flooded the internet with conspiracy theories, reports of obvious violations of American’s constitutional rights, as well as the invasive militaristic undertones emanating from within the Whitehouse itself.

Firearms manufactures and ammunition retailers soon found themselves besieged by distressed and frightened customers, many of whom were snapping up weapons and ammo like it was the end of the world. Even today this trend continues, people that have never owned a firearm before, are purchasing weapons in what many feel will be resultant of Barack Obama’s brave new world-the elimination of all privately owned firearms.

America’s people are afraid-scarred that the rumors swirling across the electrons of cyberspace are coming true. Rumors that persist across a wide range of websites warning of the looming specter of United Nations troops conducting gun confiscation sweeps in America’s neighborhoods. Other websites exhort that the federal Government has constructed several FEMA camps-facilities that are purported to be future locations that will imprison dissenters of the Obama administration. There are rumors of FEMA stockpiling thousands of coffins at various locations, and that military bases will be used as temporary internment centers for those citizens that refuse inoculations for the H1N1 virus.

No matter what one believes relative to the objectives of these groups-there remains the single fact that people are worried about President Obama and those appointees that he has placed into his administration. Obama’s “transparency movement” has in fact awakened a sense of awareness-while at the same time creating a sense of utter distrust.

Barack Obama did little to assuage the already anxiousness of Americans when he was asked his view regarding Gun Control-His reply that he supported gun owners rights in having “Hunting Rifles” sent an immediate shock wave hurtling across America. That one statement alone instantaneously foreshadowed what many had been prophesying all along-that President Obama was going to take away the rights to private ownership of firearms, and through a system of intrusive, and increasingly militarist policies, transform America into a socialist, if not communist-New World Order.

One simply has to look beyond all the “Yes We Can” rhetoric, and focus instead on President Obama’s track record concerning private ownership of firearms, in order to fully understand his fundamental conception of the idea: http://www.ontheissues.org/domestic/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm

Eleven months after Obama’s inauguration, some of the “transparency” policies that he promised the American people in order to get elected can be witnessed firsthand:

Clean Water Restoration Act;

Adopts a statutory definition of “waters of the United States” based on the long-standing definition in EPA and Army Corps regulations.

Deletes the term “navigable” from the Clean Water Act thereby clarifying that Congress’ primary concern in 1972 was to protect waters from pollution rather than simply sustain navigation.

Includes a set of findings that clearly explains the Constitutional authority Congress has over an array of waters and wetlands.

Preserves existing exemptions from the Clean Water Act for farming, ranching, mining, energy development and forestry activities.

In essence what this bill introduces to the American people, and through the usual legal speak so prevalent with politicians-is the fact that the Federal Government would then own all the water in the United States-every drop of it. Every pond, every lake, every stream, every river, and even private wells on private land, would be subject to federal regulations-and perhaps even federal licensing or the land owner having to pay the Federal government for use of private well water. Something that the Federal Government has been attempting to accomplish for years, but time after time failing to get the resolution passed until Barack Obama took office.

Even in Alaska, a state that is somewhat insulated from mainstream politics, a state where many people claim to be survivalists-current national policies coupled with a gloomy view against the Obama administration, are seeing the materialization of a large organized citizen militia.

The Alaska Militia, founded by Norm Olson, and Ray Southwell, both former founders of the Michigan Militia-have recently staged a press conference in Nikiski, Alaska-a small town famous for its salmon fishing. Surprisingly, a lot of people are listening. Militia oriented and survivalists websites are awash in this ever-expanding inclinations of ordinary people leaning towards alternative means to allay their fears about the Government’s encroachments upon their civil rights. Fears that are rapidly growing as more disturbing rules and regulations flow out of Washington DC.

Militias have been painted with a broad brush over the years by several news organizations that have depicted the militia movement as a home-grown terrorist plot bent on usurping the American way of life. Equally as important are the many criminal cases brought against individuals associated with, or claiming membership within the rank and file of organized militia groups. Many of these individuals have been charged, convicted, and imprisoned by both the FBI and the ATF for a wide range of weapons, explosives, and other violations of federal laws. But in all of those instances, no actual militia group has ever been formally charged with any crime that would suggest culpability in criminal acts of their membership, or alleged members. In every case, a person, or groups of people that have been convicted, though associated or sympathetic to the militia movement, has been charged as an individual, not as a member of a domestic terrorist group.

Militia groups are something that the Federal Government is very afraid of. It represents an entirely new grassroots political movement that they are unable to deal with-opting instead to label everyone within the movement as a dissenter. It reeks of “political profiling” a case that has been debated by civil liberty activists for several years, and only now is becoming part of mainstream attention.

The Federal government’s approach to dealing with the rise of the militias can be attributed somewhat to their own lack of understanding as to why, so many American have taken such drastic anti-government positions . The slaughter of twenty five innocent children and fifty adults at Mount Carmel in Waco Texas, in 1993 enraged many, many people. Their pure militaristic response has been noted, checked, and the battle lines drawn. Later, when all of the congressional hearings where finished, and not one single federal agent taking part in the raid and subsequent slaughter, was chastised or charged with any responsibility for those unwarranted deaths, brought into motion the more extremist militia and anti-government groups.

In these concerning and troubling times-Americans fearful of continued, and even further erosion of their constitutional rights-are turning their eyes towards organized civil disobedience. Even though some militia groups are extreme in their views and ideologies, the fact is that most militias embrace the American Constitution as their founding and guiding principal. A cause that in 1776 brought the United States out from under the yoke and leash of British tyranny and subservience.

No longer can this, or any other administration label members of a militia group as extremist, for if every militia group across the country is branded in this manner, then every American who joins them, and that has a voice against injustices at the hands of a potently militaristic government, or a citizen that cannot reach out to address grievance, is likewise branded under the same title. The broad definition of this tactic would indicate that it’s not the people, but the government that is extremist in their nature.

Citizens militias will always dominate the background of American politics. It is the ordinary citizen’s answer to complex national problems-when all else fails, when there are no answers from the elected leaders and administration, and when the government oversteps its authority-the organized militia units scattered across the lands of America will voice their concerns- It’s time for Washington DC to start listening to the people on the streets of America.
